The transaction levels for resale homes in the country have returned to peak levels of 2007 according to different reports in the Spanish media.
Conclusion is that the market for resale homes has picked up significantly! This is a result due to a shortfall of new properties in the construction sector.
This are the current numbers in Spain:
In the second quarter of this year, exactly 119,408 flats and buildings changed owners, of which 99,343 were resale homes or secondhand homes. This is the same level as before the 2007 crisis.
And in contrast, the market for newly built homes remains with just 20,065 transactions in the second quarter, that’s not much compared to the 110,000 new units sold in the first six months of 2007.
The resale property market reveals a strong and rising demand for homes in Spain.
Due the absence of new homes, buyers are being forced to find what they’re looking for on the resale market.
