Holy week or Semana Santa is an important time of the year in Spain. Many people have time off work and shops are often closed from Thursday on.

Almost every day and in every town you will be able to see a procession, some quite spectacular. Some participants wear the nazareno or the penitential robe with the conical shaped hood. The floats, called ‘tronos’ are carried through the streets and beautifully decorated. In Moraira- Teulada we have the following program:

Maundy
Thursday or Jueves Santo
– on the 24th of March there will be a silent procession at 23 o’ clock.

Good
Friday or Viernes Santo
– on the 25th of March you can go to the ’Procesión del Santo Entierro’ at  19.30h in Teulada.

Easter Sunday or Domingo de Pascua – on the 27th of March there is theProcesión de “L´Encontre” at  08,30h in Teulada.

Hopefully you are able to taste a bit of the Spanish folklore this weekend!
